As a member of Tourism Nanaimo we encourage you to take advantage of the benefits membership affords you: Brochure Racking in the Visitor Information Centre - The Nanaimo Visitor Information centre is visited by over 40,000 people a year! As a member of Tourism Nanaimo you are invited to rack your marketing publications in the centre. Please be sure to maintain an up-to-date lure piece in the centre year round. * In addition to racking in the Nanaimo Visitor Information Centre, members are welcome to take advantage of a reciprocal racking arrangement with the Tourism Information Centre in Port Angeles, WA. Members are responsible for supplying the Port Angeles Centre with their product. Info Centre Promotion - With over 70,000 thousand inquiries each year our Visitor Information staff and volunteers promote members through direct service, phone, fax, and email requests. Food Service and Bed & Breakfast members are invited to provide us with a menu and/or brief write up to be included in display binders that are kept on the front counter in the Visitor Information Centre. Listing on the Official Tourism Website - The Tourism Nanaimo website currently receives over 20,000 unique user sessions a month. Your online membership listing includes a free basic listing including a 250 character description of your business and one photo on our website. Enhanced listings are also available for $100 per year and include an unlimited description, 3 photos and a link to your website. Conventions & Sport Tourism- Organizers of meeting and sporting events regularly ask for referrals for services such as; meeting and sporting venues, accommodation options, activity options for delegates or participants and families, transportation options to/from Nanaimo and within Nanaimo, restaurant suggestions, sightseeing, venues for off-site functions, pre and post touring options, meeting and event planners, audio visual companies, tent and party equipment rentals, caterers, etc. Frequently, staff will send leads for these services and make referrals to Tourism Nanaimo members. Additionally, we supply organizers with packages which will often include brochures for recommended activities while delegates/families are in Nanaimo. Only members of Tourism Nanaimo are included in these packages. Additional Investment Opportunities: Visitor Guide Advertising - Members of Tourism Nanaimo receive preferred rates in our annual visitors' guide publication. The Visitors' Guide is Tourism Nanaimo's primary lure piece with 115,000 copies printed each year. The guide is distributed through our visitor's information center, tradeshow campaign, convention packages, on board BC Ferries at our seasonal Visitor Information Kiosk and inquiry response mail outs. Investment: Ranges from $80.00-$ 5,480.00 Consumer Show Racking - Members are welcome to both rack promotional materials for a minimal fee and/or share the booth space with Tourism Nanaimo at the various Consumer Tradeshows attended throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest region. Consumer Shows are a great marketing venue, as they provide members with direct one on one interaction with potential customers. Investment: $25.00/show Come Ashore Program- This unique to Nanaimo marketing program caters directly to the 6,500 boats that visit the harbour city over the course of a year. The program runs May through September and involves the distribution of waterproofed information packages including coupons. This highly effective initiative is designed to encourage boaters to 'Come Ashore' and indulge in everything our city has to offer. The packages are distributed by the Nanaimo Port Authority and are also available at the Petro Canada fuel dock, the Nanaimo Yacht Club, and at Page Point Inn marine in Ladysmith. Member Networking -As a member of Tourism Nanaimo you will be invited to attend a variety of networking opportunities. We host a monthly 'Tourism Tuesday' mixer, in addition to our yearly Summer Kick off and Christmas Parties. Members are also invited to sit on the various committees that help to guide the organization. Further networking opportunities include workshops held throughout the year.
