Destination Nanaimo
Destination Nanaimo, a marketing arm of the City of Nanaimo's Economic Development Office, fulfills the mandate of developing and implementing an annual destination marketing plan, with the goal of increasing tourism revenues within our community.
The destination awareness strategy includes attracting and increasing visitor traffic from three key regions: Vancouver/Lower Mainland, BC/Alberta, and the Pacific Northwest. Key elements of the plan include investment in the promotion of Nanaimo’s conference and meeting facilities, arts, culture, eco-tourism, and adventure recreation opportunities. Implementation of these strategies includes a variety of media campaigns such as print ads, editorial submissions, television promotions, media relations, as well as trade and consumer shows.
Destination Nanaimo works closely with Tourism Nanaimo by liaising with local tourism stakeholders so that local tourist information and services can be distributed effectively to both internal (local) and external (out of town) visitors.
