Art 10 Gallery, Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC

MARY ANN FLEMING will be the Featured artist for the month of July at Art 10 with a show entitled “Gardens of No Weedin’.” Mary Ann has been a member of Art 10 since about 1989 and has painted on many topics. This show is dedicated to her mother who passed away recently.

“Next to her family and friends, my Mother loved her flowers best. While growing up, our family moved several times to some remote and isolated places in Canada. Finding herself in the midst of the confusion of re-settling, my Mom was always able to grow her flowers. When she retired to Canada's garden province, British Columbia, in l988, Mother thought that she'd hit pay dirt, (or was that garden dirt?). She spent many long hours on her hands and knees weeding and growing her flowers. In 2006 she passed away and is now eternally in "Gardens of No Weedin' ". This show is a tribute to my Mother.”

Mary Ann Fleming will be available at the gallery for conversation on Monday, July 7, and Monday, July 21 from 1:30 to 5:30pm. Refreshments will be served.

Art 10 Gallerys is made up of artists from mid-Vancouver Island, and they exhibit two-dimensional artwork (watercolours, acrylics, oils, pastels, mixed media) plus stoneware and raku pottery along with pottery from the island's famous Tozan kiln and now jewellery. Also available are a broad selection of Art Cards depicting many of the members' paintings.

Art 10 Gallery is located in downtown Port Place Shopping Center (across from London Drugs).
