Yesterday Tourism Nanaimo officially launched the Adventure 360° Team on Facebook Live. If you haven’t yet seen the video, go check it out!
In the spirit of giving you a bit more face time with the folks behind the team, we sat down with them to talk about their creative spirits, what they love about Nanaimo, and what you can expect from them this summer.
How did MADE Creative come to be?
Over the last couple of years, a group of us had been floating our own ideas about an agency. A couple of us got together, and from there we approached Mike, Alex, and Heather to round out our skills. August 2016 was when we officially formed, and since then, we’ve worked with several different clients. We’ve partnered with Now That’s Ugly in Vancouver and Bosco Anthony through social media camp, for example.
Is there a story behind the name?
Marketing, Advertising, Design and Events, not to mention that we feel we’re made to be creative, and the name just kind of stuck.
What is it that you love about Nanaimo? Tell us about some of your favourite places.
It’s probably one of the only places in the world where you can experience everything within a two-hour max drive. You can ski, surf, be in a downtown metropolitan area—right in your backyard. Here are some of our favourites:
- If you look ahead at the tide charts, you can plan a walk between Newcastle and Protection Island. When the tide is super low, you can walk across. The same applies for Piper’s Lagoon and Shack island.
- Ammonite Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls we’ve been to. It’s that picturesque, epic waterfall, and it’s so easy to get to. The best time to capture the light on the falls is during the golden hour, when the sun is low in early morning or in the evening.
- Westwood Lake. We love that you can see Mount Benson, and there’s nice sand and warm water in the summer for a swim! It’s easy to explore all the reaches of the lake by renting a paddle board from Westwood Lake RV, Camping & Cabins.
We also have such a unique and rich history that not a lot of people know about. The Bastion is the last standing HBC trading post in its style, for example. There are so many opportunities here. You’ll be floored at what’s so close!
Where will we find you this summer?
The Nanaimo Adventure 360° Team is looking forward to showcasing our own #Nanaimo360°. We’ll be exploring Nanaimo all summer long. Keep your eye out for blogs, Instagram posts, and a contest, all that feature our fave places and activities.
The team will also be attending a few events throughout the summer. We’ll announce which ones soon, and ask you to come find us at the events for some giveaways.
Thanks Adventure 360° Team!
